Leopard Gecko Hygiene

Once your Gecko has settled in they should choose one spot in their home as a toilet area. You should remove any waste from the enclosure as soon as possible. In our vivariums that have sand in, we use a small fishing net to sieve out waste and bits of vermiculate that the geckos like to flick out of their moist hides. Hygiene is very important to the health of you and your gecko. You should wash your hands after handling any reptile. You should replace the sand in the vivariums every 6 months or sooner if needed.
